As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s heartening to see women celebrated for their great feats and accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and other fields. Women have played a crucial role in shaping the history of our country, with contributions integral to the progress and development of our nation. To make further headway in creating inclusive, equitable and diverse work culture, it’s crucial to bring gender equality and break down the barriers that prevent women from fully participating in all spheres of life. Building a culture of awareness, curiosity, and courage ensures a sense of belonging and brings validation to women.

Role models for the next generation

Companies that have established a healthy and inclusive workforce with women in leadership positions generally have a more positive workplace culture and have consistently excelled in their financial performance. Over the years it has been proven that having more women in leadership positions can have a positive impact on both the individual and the organization.

As women continue to break barriers and make progress in leadership positions, sharing their personal and professional stories of success can inspire the next generation of female leaders and show them what’s possible. Sharing stories of struggle and success can particularly impact future generations, as it helps to demonstrate the challenges that women face and the determination it takes to overcome them. It can give a sense of belonging and validation, to those who have faced similar obstacles and succeeded despite the odds. Having female role models in tech will greatly encourage young females, who are looking to change careers.

Inspiring to see the women workforce in technology rise

Technology companies have a reputation for promoting unbiased hiring and offering training, compensation, and flexible work policies that promote diversity. There are tech companies that have achieved representational parity in the workplace, paving the way for their peers to learn and evolve into a more inclusive and diverse work culture.

According to the World Bank, the global labour force participation and the employment rate for women is just over 50% compared to 80% for men. The latest tech statistics reveal the percentage of overall female representation in tech jobs sits firmly at 26% in 2022 which is very encouraging for the women workforce. Globally and in India, efforts are being made constantly for maintaining the momentum of growth which will address any underlying drivers of gender gaps in employment opportunities.

One such example is the launch of the Women’s premier league. Women have been pushing the doors for a very long time and are sparking inspiration in every field all over the globe. Women’s premier league will change a lot for women’s cricket and find many superstars coming out of it. It will be good to see the idea whose time has come, and this will be big in the coming years. Being led by a bunch of dedicated and revolutionary sportsmen will only open more possibilities and lead them to historic achievements. It is time to brace ourselves, for all the women achievers in whatever they do as this is only going to take everyone by surprise with everything that’s coming.

Demystifying tech

Educated women have contributed to a great extent to social transformation, and in the future, you may see more women venturing into areas traditionally dominated by men. The tech sector is an exciting field that presents many opportunities for women to unleash their potential. Even more so in India, where women now make up 34% of the IT workforce, compared to a global average of 28%. Women entrepreneurs in tech are fast becoming a force to reckon with within the business world and are not only involved in the business as mere professionals but to satisfy their inner urge for creativity and innovation.

There are many ways in which women can empower themselves in this technological age, by developing digital skills, building an online presence and brand for themselves, networking, using technology to stay organized, and advocating for gender equality in technology. Today’s women are opting for more professional and technical guided learning paths to cope with market needs and are flourishing as designers, interior decorators, exporters, and publishers.

Women have a crucial role in shaping society, and the people they interact with. The success of one woman is an inspiration to another. Join us in celebrating the mighty contribution of all women!
